Initially, the company will make an investment of Rs 2,000 crore that will be further increased to Rs 5,000 crore over the next six years.
1. MG eZS SUV
Next in our list of upcoming MG Cars in India is the all-electric SUV – MG eZS that debuted last year at the Guangzhou Motor Show. In India, this electric SUV will directly rival the Hyundai Kona EV that is likely to be launched by mid-2019. In terms of styling, the electric model looks largely identical to the regular MG ZS SUV. This model comes with new exclusive blue paint scheme and newly styled alloy wheels. The cabin is also shared with the regular model, but it gets panoramic sunroof and a large touchscreen infotainment system. The eZS electric motor produces close to 150bhp and is claimed to achieve 0-50kmph in just 3.1 seconds. The SUV offers a range of 335kms on a single charge.
2. MG Hector
The company’s first model for the Indian market will be an all-new 5-seater SUV called MG Hector. This SUV is basically the re-engineered Baojun 530, which is currently on sale in the Chinese market.
The MG Hector will be available with 2 engine options – a 1.5-litre turbo-petrol and a 2.0-litre turbo-diesel. The petrol engine is capable of producing 143bhp of power and 250Nm of torque. Compared to its direct rivals – Hyundai Tucson, Honda CR-V and Jeep Compass, the Hector petrol is slightly underpowered. However, it offers the segment-leading torque. The diesel engine is expected to produce around 173bhp of power and 350Nm of torque. The MG Hector will be equipped with several segment-leading features like a 360-degree camera, largest portrait touchscreen infotainment system and segment-leading panoramic sunroof. Other features will include dual-zone climate control, cruise control, a TFT multi-info display, paddleshifters, electrically adjustable seats and an electronic parking brake.
